The Image 3D RetroViewer works just like old View-Master toys, which gained popularity in the ’60s, but feels much sturdier in the hand. It comes with a voucher for one custom photo reel of seven images, and uploading your own photos and setting it up takes only 15 minutes or so. Reels arrive within a week; each additional one costs about $18. I have one of these viewers on a bookcase in my living room, and nearly every visitor picks it up and clicks through. There’s just something nostalgic and fun about this tech-free way of looking at photos. And if you happen to have old View-Master reels hanging around—or feel industrious enough to nab some on eBay—they’ll fit in this viewer too.
