San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk might have suffered a significant injury in Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game the team fears a torn ACL:
Aiyuk left Sunday’s game with a knee injury and was ruled out with a knee injury.
The wideout visited the medical tent before eventually being carted off the field during the first half of the team’s Week 7 matchup.
Prior to exiting, Aiyuk had made two catches for 23 yards.
While being carted off, Aiyuk pointed to his right knee when communicating with San Francisco’s medical staff.
Aiyuk has 23 catches for 351 yards thus far in 2024 and is a key piece of the 49ers offense. Losing him for an extended stretch would be a major blow for a team that currently sits at 3-4 and hopes to return to the Super Bowl.
Deebo Samuel also left the Chiefs game with an illness, while Jauan Jennings was out with a hip injury. It leaves rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing among the top remaining options at the position.
