A sluggish polar bear has captured the hearts of social media users, with many wondering why a video of the bear garnered nearly two million views on a specialized online account.
In just under 14 seconds, the heavy white bear won over social media users. The video starts with the bear calmly stretching itself over frozen waters before crawling towards the opposite bank. It finally stands on its hind legs, regaining its normal movements.
The video, posted by the “Tansu Yian” account, was accompanied by a comment explaining that polar bears know how to flatten their shape to avoid putting pressure on the thin ice and prevent it from breaking.
Comments poured in with social media users admiring the bear’s movements and offering explanations. Some explained that there is a simple physics law called “pressure law” that distributes the surface area of an object over a certain area to reduce the pressure on the ground.
It is unclear when or where the video was shot, but some speculated that it was recently recorded in the frozen South Pole.
It is worth mentioning that several videos in the past showed how traditional walking by bears on thin ice broke the ice. This made it challenging for bears to get out of the freezing waters.
