Garth Brooks Responds to Accusations: “This Has Been Like Having a Loaded Gun Waved in My Face!”
In a powerful statement to PEOPLE on Thursday night, Garth Brooks addressed Roe’s lawsuit, claiming he has faced relentless harassment over the past two months. “I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” he stated.
Brooks emphasized that “hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money,” asserting that it would imply he admits to behaviors he cannot condone. He revealed that he filed a lawsuit against Roe nearly a month ago to combat what he describes as extortion and defamation of character, noting that it was done anonymously for the sake of families involved.
“I want to play music tonight,” Brooks expressed, reflecting on how the situation tarnishes his goodwill efforts. He concluded, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
